English-Speaking Lawyers in Iceland

This page lists the 260 lawyers in the directory who state in the public register that they work in English. It is a practical starting point if you live in Iceland, are moving here or need legal help during a visit.

Court hearings in Iceland are held in Icelandic, but you are entitled to an interpreter, and a lawyer who speaks English can advise you, read documents with you and explain each step. Many of them also work in other languages: Danish (121), Swedish (38), Norwegian (34), German (30), French (16), Spanish (10).

Many other lawyers also speak English without listing it, so if you find the right specialist elsewhere in the directory, simply ask when you first get in touch.
