Privacy Policy
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for this website is Jose David Sánchez, C/ Tirso de Molina, Molina de Segura, Murcia, Spain. Email: j19187232@gmail.com. You can also reach us through the contact form.
What data we collect
Lögmannaskrá is a directory of lawyers in Iceland. We only collect the personal data you give us yourself when you use the contact form: your name, email address and the content of your message.
The information about lawyers and law firms shown in the directory comes from public registers and publicly available sources, and relates to their professional activity.
Why we use it
We use the data you send us only to reply to your message and, where relevant, to correct or update a listing. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell or share it with third parties.
Legal basis
We process the data from the contact form on the basis of your consent, which you give when you send the form (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Lawyer listings are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a public directory of professional services (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Lawyers can object to their listing at any time.
How long we keep it
Messages are kept while we handle your request and are deleted once they are no longer needed for that purpose, and in any case within 12 months.
Service providers
Our hosting and email providers process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is covered by the safeguards required by the GDPR.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. To use these rights, write to j19187232@gmail.com or use the contact form.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD, aepd.es) or the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd, personuvernd.is).
Information for lawyers listed in the directory
This section is addressed to the lawyers whose professional details appear in Lögmannaskrá. Because we did not collect these details from you directly, Article 14 of the GDPR requires us to tell you how we obtain and use them.
Who is responsible
The data controller is the same person named at the top of this policy (Jose David Sánchez, j19187232@gmail.com).
What data we publish
For each lawyer we publish professional data only: name, rights of audience (district court, Court of Appeal or Supreme Court), law firm, office address, town and region, professional phone number, email address and website, practice areas and the languages you work in.
We do not publish ID numbers (kennitala), private addresses, photos, ratings or reviews. A law firm's business ID may be kept internally only to check the firm against the Register of Enterprises.
Where the data comes from
- The public register of practising lawyers (Lögmannalisti) of the Icelandic Bar Association (Lögmannafélag Íslands).
- The Register of Enterprises (Fyrirtækjaskrá) for law firm details.
- Publicly available professional sources, such as law firm websites and public business listings, for contact details.
Purpose and legal basis
We process these data to run a public directory of legal services that helps people in Iceland, especially those who do not speak Icelandic, find a suitable lawyer. The legal basis is our legitimate interest and the public's interest in accessing this information (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We consider that this interest is not overridden by your rights because the data are professional, already public, published by you or by your professional body for the purpose of being contacted, and shown without ratings, rankings or paid placement. We do not use the data for marketing, we do not sell them and we do not make automated decisions about you.
Who can see the data
The listing is public on this website. Our hosting provider processes the data on our behalf as a processor. We do not share the data with any other third party.
How long we keep it
A listing is kept while you appear as a practising lawyer in the Bar Association's register. If you leave the register, or ask us to remove your listing, it is removed from the website and deleted from our database without undue delay and at the latest within one month.
Your rights
You can at any time object to the publication of your listing (Article 21 GDPR), ask for access to the data we hold, have them corrected or completed, or ask for their erasure or the restriction of their processing.
To use these rights, write to j19187232@gmail.com or use our contact form and choose "I want to update or remove my details". We may ask you to confirm that the listing is yours. You also have the right to complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd).
